I know I've been posting a bit too much about Dusseldorf.
But this account begins in a district of Dusseldorf called Oberkassel, on the other side of the Rhein, which I haven't yet posted about, and where there's an unbelievably immense public park and rocky beach on the river. On Sunday, we spent some time appreciating one of the results of high European taxes: invaluable public places...with efficient public transit to get you there.
After romping down grassy hills, we found a charming stretch dotted with both seashells and dandelions. (There were some crazy high waters earlier this season.) When we reached the river, we were delighted to find the best skipping stones one could possible hope for:
And we skipped and played for a nice long time:
Next, we felt obliged to take Daisy to her very favorite park in the world back on the other side of the river:
And the whole day ended with a cobblestone walk through the old town and some chocolate ice cream before catching a train back home.
