St. Nicholas Day

From my trustworthy source, this is the story of St. Nicholas:
As a boy, he was known for his benevolence. He climbed up people's homes to pour money down their chimneys so that they would think that it came from heaven. The townspeople of Myra found out it was him and made him their bishop. Although they had many good years, there came a famine, which led Nicholas to go to the sea and pray. The next day, a ship came, and Nicholas bargained with the captain successfully, which saved the city.

Nowadays, German kids wake up on the morning of December 6th, St. Nicholas Day, to find their boots filled with treats from Nicholas. The saint also found our door:

These Lindt Choclate Nicholases are
perfectly boot-sized

Excited to have a lollipop before 8 AM
Tonight, we visited a special one-day Nikolausmarkt over the river in Saarn. Everyone showed up; it made Muelheim seem like a big city! Then, we went out to a very nice Turkish restaurant to celebrate Chris' birthday belatedly. Very fun day! We get to have a looong Christmas season in Germany.
